Economists estimate that Hunger can also effect the lifetime earning of an individual from 5-10 % whom were faced by hunger and inadequate food in their childhood where their physical and mental health were suffered.

Addressing Food Insecurity in Protracted Crises
Close to one billion people are globally not getting adequate food in 2010. This decline was due to a good economic situation in 2010, particularly in developing countries, and the decrease in food prices since 2008. According to the FAO estimate a total of 925 million people are undernourished in 2010 in comparison with 1.023 billion in 2009. Anyhow, the number of hungry people is more in 2010 than 2008–09.

Looking at the damage caused by hurricanes in Haiti vs the Dominican Republic shows just how effective forests can be at minimizing damage. Because more than 90% of tree cover in Haiti has been demolished due to deforestation when hurricanes come through the island the damage to Haiti is often much more severe since there are no trees to stabilize the soil and prevent landslides and flooding.

    Solutions to Sustainability:
1.- Eliminate poverty and stabilize population
    Provide--------- Provide adequate food
2.- Protect and restore the Earth’s resources
    3.- Design sustainable cities

One of the key solutions to eliminating poverty and stabilizing the population is to provide adequate food for all people on Earth. Providing adequate food for everyone is the starting ground and one of the basic necessities of life. When a population is not adequately fed they are not working at the maximum efficiency and due to malnourishment they are more susceptible to disease. These are both root cause factors, which contribute to poverty.
The Earth itself cannot become sustainable if we do not take measures to protect and restore its natural resources. Resolving this issue has the added benefit of helping humanity as well. If we continue to over extract renewable and non-renewable resources eventually we will reach a point where civilizations could begin to collapse. For example without electricity (which is created predominantly from coal) the way we live would change drastically. Humanity needs to realize that the Earth’s resources are finite and once they are gone the non-renewables will be gone forever, while the renewables can take decades to return to sustaining levels.

Finally, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, a non-profit, private operating foundation focusing on global health policies, the weighted global average of people living in cities is 50%. Upon closer look the majority of developed nations have an even higher percentage of people living in cities, for example:
    Australia: 83%
    Belgium: 97%
    Canada: 81%
